Shawdesh Desk: Bangladesh found themselves in all sorts of trouble against Sri Lanka in their second one-day international as top-order batsmen yet again failed to give the visitors a good start at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Sunday.
The Tigers were reduced to 73-4 in 20 overs after Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal won the toss and elected to bat first in a must-win match.
Mushfiqur Rahim was batting on 17 runs while Sabbir Rahman was not out on four.
Bangladesh lost Soumya Sarkar for 11 in the sixth over when he was trapped lbw by pacer Nuwan Pradeep.
Skipper Tamim continued his dismal batting performance in the series and was played on off Isuru Udana two overs later.
Mohammad Mithun and Mahmudullah followed the opening pair as both were dismissed after making 12 and six runs respectively to Akila Dananjaya and Bangladesh were reduced to 68-4 in the 18th over.
Sri Lanka are leading the thee-match series 1-0 after beating Bangladesh by 91 runs in Friday’s opening match.
Bangladesh brought in left-arm spinner Taijul Islam for pacer Rubel Hossain in their only change from the opening defeat.
Sri Lanka replaced retired pacer Lasith Malinga with Isuru Udana and left out Thisara Perera to bring all-rounder Dananjaya as their second change.
