Shawdesh Desk:
Bangladesh Nationalist Party secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Thursday alleged that the government was out to link the opposition activists with the incidents of lynching across the country to hide its failure.
The government has pushed the people of Bangladesh into total insecurity as according to social media posts people were fleeing Aedes mosquitos and mob lynching, he said.
The information minister on Wednesday claimed he smelt involvement of opposition activists in lynching people, said Fakhrul.
‘They always try to find involvement of opposition whenever anything takes place. It is their total failure,’ he said at a rally at Shaheed Hadis Park in Khulna as part of the party’s demonstrations at divisional headquarters demanding immediate release of its jailed chairperson Khaleda Zia who has been in jail since February 8, 2018 following her conviction in a graft case.
‘They have completely failed in maintaining law and order across the country. They failed to provide justice to people as they did in ensuring economic freedom,’ he said.
On Preo Bala Biswas’s compliant to US president Donald Trump, Fakhrul said, ‘We do not know what she said. We learnt from media that her comments even irked the Awami League leaders.’
Fakhrul said Preo Bala had claimed that it was not her comment rather it was a statement of the prime minister. ‘We want to know which is true. Is it the prime minister’s statement or Preo’s?’ he said.
The BNP leader claimed that the unity of the BNP-led alliance and the Jatiya Oikya Front was intact. ‘We will defeat this government in united effort and free our leader,’ he said.
He also asked the party leaders and activists to be united forgetting disputes among themselves to wage movement for freeing Khaleda Zia.
