The European Union and its member states have expressed concerns over the increasing incidents of violence during ongoing political protests.

‘EU & Member States engage with political parties in [Bangladesh] in line with diplomatic practice. The EU has raised concerns about escalating protest-related violence & the need to ensure participatory & peaceful conditions as the next parliamentary elections approach,’ EU ambassador and head of delegation to Bangladesh Charles Whiteley twitted in the official page of the EU delegation to Bangladesh on Thursday marking International Day of Democracy.

At least three activists of the main opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party were killed and 2,000 others injured in recent weeks as the police and ruling Awami League activists attacked anti-government rallies across the country.
