Jatiya Party chairman Golam Mohammad Quader on Wednesday relived former secretary general Mosiur Rahman Raga of all party posts, including the post of the party’s presidium member.
A party press release signed by JP deputy office secretary Mahmud Alam said that the party chairman had taken the decision as per the provision of the party constitution.
Jatiya Party has been facing crisis for past several months. The crisis began when GM Quader’s taking a stand against Awami League and criticizing the failures of the government a few months ago.
Mosiur Rahman Ranga told New Age that he would not accept such a decision against him.
‘I am a Jatiya Party lawmaker from Rangpur and will see how the party chairman can execute the decision,’ he said.
The chief patron of the party Raushan Ershad and leader of the opposition convened 10th national conference on November 26.
Party chairman GM Quader said that Raushan Ershad had no right to convene national conference of the party.
Raushan is now admitted to a Bangkok hospital for treatment there.
The parliament members of the party in last month handed over a letter to the Speaker to elect GM Quader as the leader of the opposition.
GM Quder is now deputy leader of the opposition in the parliament.
