Bangladesh reports 3 more dengue deaths in 24hrs

At least three more dengue patients – two in Cox’s Bazar and one in Barishal – died in the past 24 hours till Monday morning, taking the total official death toll in Bangladesh to 26 this year.

Of the total deceased ones, 11 died in Dhaka, 14 in Cox’s Bazar and one in Barishal, said a press release of the Directorate General of Health Services.

One died in June, nine died in July, 11 died in August and five in the first five days of September.

Besides, a total of 203 dengue patients were hospitalised in the past 24 hour ending 8:00am on Monday, raising the total hospitalisation to 7,113 this year since January, said the release.

A total of 806 dengue patients are still undergoing treatment at different health facilities on the day, with 674 of them being in Dhaka and 132 others outside Dhaka city, added the release.

A total of 932 dengue patients were hospitalised in the first five days of September, showing a fast rising trend in dengue patients.

The highest monthly hospitalisation was reported 3,521 in August, followed by 1,571 in July, 737 in June, 163 in May, 126 in January, 23 in April and 20 each in both February and March, the official data showed.
