Shawdesh Desk: A local leader of ruling Awami League was hacked to death by miscreants at Hasnapara of Lama upazila in Bandarban on Tuesday night.
The deceased was Alamgir Shikdar, former joint general secretary of Sarai union unit of AL. He was the son of Mohammad Ali of the area.
Quoting local people, Oppela Raju Naha, officer-in-charge of Lama police station, said a group of around 12 miscreants, riding motorbikes, attacked Alamgir’s house around 11:00pm and stabbed him indiscriminately, leaving him dead on the spot.
Police recovered the body and sent it to Sadar hospital morgue for post-mortem examinations.
A man, identified as Mongshai Marma, was detained for his suspected involvement in the murder, the OC added.
