ASI killed in Mohakhali road accident

An on-duty traffic police official was killed when a passenger bus hit him in the capital’s Mohakhali flyover on Wednesday afternoon.

The deceased was Abdul Aziz Molla, 45, was working as an Assistant Sub- Inspector (ASI) of Mohakhali Zone of Dhaka Metropolitan Gulshan Traffic Division.

According to the Banani police station officials, a Bikash Paribahan bus came at a reckless speed and hit the ASI from behind near Mohakhali flyover, injured him seriously.

 

He was rushed to Rajarbagh Police Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries around 6:30 pm.

Ashfaq Ahmed, Assistant Police Commissioner of Mohakhali Traffic Zone of Traffic Gulshan Division, told BSS that the bus was seized immediately, but the driver and the helper fled from the spot.

Later, the bus driver was arrested from Abdullahpur in Uttara at night.

The body of the deceased was sent to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital morgue for post-mortem.

The bus driver was sent to court today at the end of primary interrogation, and a case has been filed with the concerned police station, he added.
