150 bhori gold, 2kg silver ornaments stolen from Kakon Jewellers in Keraniganj

A group of unidentified robbers took away 150 bhori of gold and 2kg of silver ornaments from Kakon Jewellers in Keraniganj.

Estimated value of the robbed gold is around Tk 1,20,00,000.

Sources said unknown robbers entered Kakon Jewellers at Kolatiabazar Temple Market in Keraniganj upazila by cutting tin-shed roof and took the ornaments Sunday midnight.

 

Kanai Chandra Mridha, owner of the jewellery shop, said “The robbers have made me destitute. They cut tin-shed roof and steel net and broke 12 keys of iron safe. Nearly 150 bhori gold and 2kg silver ornaments have been robbed of. The criminals also withdrew Tk 1 lakh from my ATM card. The robbery took place despite security measures. No ornament is left to be given to the customers.”

Mamunur Rashid, OC of Keraniganj Model Police Station, said “I went to the spot. SP Humayun Kabir and additional SP Sahabuddin Kabir also visited the place of occurrence. We have collected CCTV footage. Apart from PS, the PBI and NSI officials are holding separate investigations into the robbery.”
