Shawdesh Desk: Rescuers recovered the body of another man from the rubble of a two-storied building that caved in on Wednesday afternoon in Old Dhaka’s Patuatuli.
The body was retrieved around midnight, said Fire Service and Civil Defence control room duty officer Rasel Shikder.
The deceased are —Jahidul Islam, 50, and his son Shafiqul Islam, 17, banana traders and residents of the area.
Local people said that they used the ground floor of the building as storeroom.
The rescue operation was called off around 1:00am on Thursday after the recovery of the second body, the fire service officer said.
Fire service officials said that the rooftop of the building completely collapsed while the ceiling of the first floor caved in partially at about 1:30pm.
