The freedom fighters’ certificates of 17 more people have been cancelled terming those fake.

The liberation war affairs ministry issued a notification on June 14 in this regard following the National Freedom Fighters Council Act 2002.

The action was taken following the recommendation of the 78th meeting of the National Freedom Fighters Council.

The persons whose certificates have been cancelled are – Md A Baten, Munshi, KH Nazir Ahmed Muktar and Md A Qadir Mandal of Gazipur’s Sreepur, Mofazzal Hossain, Matiur Rahman and Md Nurul Haqu of Gazipur Sadar and Jamir Ali, Md Sultan Uddin, Md Rehan Uddin of Gazipur’s Kapasia.

Besides, the certificates of  Abu Bakkar Siddique of Kishoreganj’s  Karimganj, Nurul Haque of Narsingdi’s Belabo, Kamrul Hossain Mollah, Mezbah Uddin Sikder of Narsingdi’s Palash upazila, Harun Mia of Narsingdi’s Monohardi upazila, and Sirajul Islam Khan of Habiganj’s Nabiganj upazila, have also been cancelled.
