Jamuna crosses danger level in Bogura

The water level of Jamuna river is flowing at 2cm above the danger level.

The water is increasing in the river for few days at Sariakandi Point due to heavy rainfall and onrush of hilly water. As a result, apart from flood,  crop lands have been submerged in the district.

Zinya Akhtar, an officer of Hydrology  Section of Bogura Water Development Board, confirmed the news.

Due to rise of Jamuna river, Sariakandi upazila’s Chaluabari, Cornibari, Kutubpur, Chandanbaisha, Kajla, Kamalpur and Sariakandi Sadar union’s low-lying areas along with crop lands have been submerged.

The rising water caused flood panic among the people of coastal areas.

Zinya Akhtar said the danger level was set on the river at 16.70 meters.

The river water was flowing at 16.72 meters on Friday. So, the water is flowing above 2cm the danger level. The water rose 25cm in the river from 6am to 6pm.
