4 ministers leave Dhaka to visit blast site at Sitakunda

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, Health Minister Zahid Maleque, State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury and State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Dr Md Enamur Rahman left Dhaka to visit at the blast site at BM Container Depot in Sitakunda of Chattogram.

This information was given on Monday (June 6) from the office of the ministers.

Home Ministry public relations officer Sharif Mahmud Apu said the home minister left Dhaka for Chattogram around 12:30 pm to inspect the accident site.

 

Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Shipping Jahangir Alam Khan said the state minister left Dhaka by air at 1pm and will visit the fire affected area at BM Container Depot at Sitakunda in Chattogram at 2.30 pm and also visit the injured who are undergoing treatment at Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) with burn injuries at 5.30 pm.

Besides, the state minister will hold a meeting with officials at Chattogram port at 7.30 pm, said Jahangir Alam.

Disaster Management and Relief Ministry Public Relations Officer Selim Hossain said the state minister went to Chattogram by air at noon. From there he will go to Sitakunda.

Fire fighters continued their operation on Monday to douse the deadly blaze at BM Container Depot at Sitakunda in Chattogram even after 38 hours of the incident that so far claimed 50 lives and left several hundred wounded.

The death toll from the devastating fire reached 50 with the recovery of another body from a container of the depot in the morning, according to Fire Service.
