Readymade garments workers with various labour organisations demanded their minimum wage Tk20,000.
In addition, they also demanded enactment of labour laws and regulations in accordance with the Constitution and ILO conventions in the forthcoming budget to ensure fundamental rights.
They made the demand at a meeting held at National Press Club on Friday.
Khairul Mamun Mintu, President of Savar-Ashulia Bangladesh Trade Union Centre, said “ ‘Ashulia industrial area is the main place of the movement of the labourers. Earliar, RMG workers of the area played vital role about the hike. Like previous, they have to play key role to increase wage to Tk 20,000.”
