Samrat surrenders before court

Expelled Jubo League leader Ismail Hossain Chowdhury Samrat has surrendered to the trial court following a High Court order.

He surrendered to the court of Judge of the Special Judge Court-6 of Dhaka Al Asad Md Asifuzzaman around 12.30pm on Tuesday.

He also filed a bail plea and the hearing on the bail plea will be held today.

 

Earlier, the HC scrapped the bail which was granted by the trial court to him in a graft case and ordered him to surrender to the trial court within seven days.

Earlier on May 11, the Judge of the Special Judge Court-6 of Dhaka, Al Asad Md Asifuzzaman, granted bail to Samrat in the ACC case.

Samrat was released from jail on May 11 following the lower court decision.

The lower court imposed conditions that Samrat would not be allowed to leave the country without permission and that he would submit his passport and health reports on a stipulated date.

On November 12 of 2019, the ACC filed the case against Samrat with its Integrated District office-1 of Dhaka for amassing an illegal wealth of Tk 2.94 crore.
