Ahead of Eid-ul-Azha, 17 makeshift cattle markets will be set up in the capital for trading sacrificial animals.

Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) will set up at least 10 cattle markets and Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) will set up seven cattle markets.

Besides, DSCC has a permanent cattle market in Sarulia and DNCC has a permanent cattle market in Gabtoli.

According to DSCC and DNCC officials, they invited tenders for the 17 makeshift cattle markets, and the lease for 14 of them has already been finalized.

DNCC Public Relation Officer Mokbul Hossain Shimul said they invited tender for Uttara Sector 17, Badda (Eastern Housing), Bhatara (Sayeednagar), Kaula Shiyaldanga, Basila in

Mohammadpur, the open space adjacent to 300 Feet Road and Mirpur Section-6 (Eastern Housing and Dhaka Polytechnic Institute playground) cattle markets.

DSCC has invited tender for the playground of The Institute of Leather Engineering & Technology (ILET) at Hazaribagh, open space adjacent to Postagola crematorium, Shaympur-Kadamtali truck stand area, Meradia Bazar area, Donia College area at Jatrabari, Dhupkhola East End Club area, Dholaikhal truck stand, Rahmatganj Club area at Lalbagh, Golapbagh DSCC Market area and Khilgaon Moitrisangha Club area.
