Shawdesh Desk: At least 207 people were killed extra-judicially in the first half of 2019, according to a report of rights group Odhikar released on Friday.
The organisation in its human rights violation report said during the six months, among the incidents of extrajudicial killings, 201 were victims of ‘crossfires’, four were shot to death, one was tortured to death and one was beaten to death.
Besides, the organisation said 16 people were victims of enforced disappearances and 16 were killed in jail and 33 were victims of mob lynching in the last six months.
In political violence, Odhikar said, at least 51 people were killed and 1,617 were injured in the six months.
The report said at least 496 women were raped in six months. Besides, 70 were victims of sexual harassment, 12 were victims of acid violence and 51 were victims of dowry related violence.
Besides, one readymade garment worker was killed and 248 were injured while 20 workers of other sectors were killed and 26 were injured during the last six months, Odhikar said.
In the last six months, Odhikar said, 18 Bangladeshis were killed by Indian Border Security Force, 10 injured and nine were abducted by the BSF.
At least 22 were arrested under Digital Security Act and two were arrested under Information and Communication Technology Act, Odhikar report said.
The report also said 36 journalists were assaulted and 31 of sustained injuries in the six months.
