At least five people, including a Chhatra League leader, were killed and another was injured in separate road accidents in Dinajpur and Khulna.

In Dinajpur, three youths were killed after an unidentified vehicle hit their motorcycle in Nawabganj upazila early Thursday.

The deceased were identified as Rimon Islam, 22, son of Rabiul Islam, Sabbir Hossain, 23, son of Zahidul Islam and Kibria, 30, son of Yeasin Ali, joint convener of Binodnagar Union unit of Chhatra League.

“The speedy vehicle crashed into their bike from behind on wich the victims were riding at Kachdah Alam Bazar area on Nababganj-Kachdah regional road at 12:30am, leaving the trio dead on the spot” said Ferdous Wahid, inspector at Nawabganj Police Station.

In Khulna, two officials of a mobile phone company were killed and another was injured after a covered van hit their motorcycle in front of Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium on Wednesday night.

The deceased were identified as Alauddin Sheikh, son of Rahman Sheikh of Eastern Gate Gabtala area under Khanjahan Ali Police Station and Md Arju Al Chayan of Gilatala.

Officer-in-charge (OC) of Khalishpur police station Kamal Hossain Khan said the Daulatpur-bound covered van of a courier service hit the motorcycle at 11:00pm, leaving the the trio seriously injured.

Later, the injured were taken to Khulna medical College and Hospital (KMCH) where duty doctor declared Alauddin and Arju dead.
