Over 50 patients from Dhaka metropolis and its adjoining areas are being admitted to International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research, Bangladesh (icddr,b) hospital in the city’s Mohakhali area every hour.

A total of 1,272 diarrhoea patients have been admitted to the hospital in last 24 hours till 12 noon on Wednesday, icddr,b sources said.

According to the icddr,b, the number of patients admitted to the hospital in the last one week was 8,152.

Number of diarrhoea patients is increasing significantly from last week. In such a situation, tents are being set up on the hospital premises to provide treatment, the hospital authorities said.

“Most of the patients admitted are from the city’s Jatrabari area.

The number of patients got admitted to the hospital was below 100 per day during the corona pandemic.
