Film actress Nipun on Tuesday filed a petition with the Supreme Court challenging the High Court order that halted the appellate board’s decision declaring actress Nipun as the newly-elected general secretary of the Bangladesh Film Artistes’ Association (BFAA) voiding candidacy of film hero Zayed Khan.

The actress also sought stay on the HC order in the petition.

The chamber judge of the Appellate Division of the SC may hold hearing on the petition later in the day, court sources said.

On Monday, a HC bench stayed the appellate board’s decision which cancelled Zayed Khan’s candidacy for a week.

On February 5, Sohanur Rahman Sohan, head of the appellate division, announced Zayed Khan and executive panel member Chunnu, disqualified for allegedly breaching the code of conduct under section 10 of the election rules.

The election authorities on January 28 declared Zayed Khan BFAA general secretary for the tenure of 2022-24.
