Shawdesh Desk: Bangladesh Nationalist Party secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Saturday alleged that the people were not getting justice as the Awami League led government was controlling the judiciary.
He made the remark while addressing a human chain formed by Dhaka South City unit of BNP in front of the National Press Club in the capital demanding immediate release of imprisoned party chairperson Khaleda Zia and Dhaka South Ciry BNP president Habib-un-Nabi Khan Sohel.
Fakhrul said that the recent verdict to a Pabna court sentencing nine to death, 25 to life term and 13 to 10 years’ imprisonment could not be considered as a verdict in the history of a civilized society. ‘People are now totally deprived of justice.’
He said that they demanded Khaleda Zia’s release as all of the cases against her were false and fabricated.
‘The pro-government people are getting bails in such type of cases but we are not getting bail. It is illegal,’ he said.
The BNP secretary general said that the cases filed against Khaleda, in which she was convicted, and those filed against prime minister Sheikh Hasina during January 11, 2007 changeover were of the same type.
He alleged that the government had scrapped the 15 cases against Hasina but lodging more and more cases against Khaleda.

The government created an anarchic situation across the country, the law-and-order situation extremely collapsed, now the country has been witnessing people are being stabbed to death in broad daylight, he said.
He also alleged that the incidents of rape, dacoity and plundering were growing while people had no security of their lives.
He stressed the need of unity among all the political parties to unite people and wage tougher movement to defeat the government to bring back the rights of people and democracy for the country.
