Houses and establishments caught fire in at least 10 places in capital Dhaka due to celebration of the 31st night on the New Year’s eve with firework.

The places fire accident reported are Dhanmondi, Mirpur, Mohammadpur, Tejgaon, Khilgaon, Demra, Sutrapur, Lalbagh, Rayerbagh, and Keraniganj.

Separate teams of Fire Service and Civil Defense are trying to douse the flame.

Bangladesh celebrated New Year’s eve as the world ringed in 2022 under an omicron shaped Covid-19 shadow.

The people in capital Dhaka and other parts of the country celebrated the 31st night after 12 o’clock on the night of 31 December.

Although New Year’s Eve fireworks erupted over Sydney’s iconic Harbour first, the rest of the world does not lag behind.

Jubilant people, particularly the young population, spent moment counting down the 12 o’clock.

In Dhaka University, students gathered at TSC and other areas on the campus to celebrate the new year.

People especially youths in other areas in the capital and different divisional, district and upazila headquarters celebrated the new year in restricted manner due to Covid-19 pandemic.
