Covid-19 claimed the life of one more patient and infected 291 others in Bangladesh in 24 hours ending Tuesday morning.

With the latest statistics, the total death toll hits 28,051 and infections to 15,81,634, since the country had recorded the first Covid infection on March 8, 2020, and death from the viral disease on March 18, 2020.

The daily test positivity rate is 1.39 per cent.

The deceased was a male patient in Sylhet.

The Directorate General of Health Services came up with the latest statistics on its daily Covid press release.

A total of 20,903 samples have been tested during the reporting period across the country at 849 laboratories while Bangladesh had tested 1,13,06,938 samples as of December 21.

In the past 24 hours, 264 patients recovered from the viral disease totalling the recovery to 15,46,071.
