Bangabandhu Corner inaugurated at Bangladesh Heritage Foundation

Bangladesh Heritage Foundation has organised an inauguration of Bangabandhu Corner and discussion meeting to celebrate the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the golden jubilee of independence of Bangladesh.

The meeting was held at the seminar room of Bangladesh Heritage Foundation and presided over by Chairman of the organisation Ambassador Waliur Rahman on Tuesday.

Minister of Foreign Affairs AK Abdul Momen, MP, State Minister of Ministry of Cultural Affairs KM Khalid, MP were present on the occassion.

 

Speaking on the event, Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen said “Under the leadership of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, we got independence and sovereign Bangladesh. The Father of the Nation has proved that it is possible to achieve prosperity by eradicating all the chains of deprivation, inequality and exploitation and by ending hunger and poverty. Bangabandhu’s policy and struggle, perseverance and sacrifice have inspired us to establish peace and harmony and will continue to do so in the future.”

State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid, MP inaugurated the Bangabandhu Corner at the meeting.

In his speech, the State Minister said, “The goal of long political life of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was to free the Bengali nation from the shackles of subjugation; Ensuring a better life by freeing it from the darkness of hunger, poverty and illiteracy. We have got independent and sovereign Bangladesh because he has led. His daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is leading his unfinished works to build Sonar Bangla. With her charismatic leadership, today Bangladesh is a role model of development.”

Chair of the meeting Ambassador Waliur Rahman said “Bangabandhu was a man of ‘far-reaching’ thinking. In just nine months after gaining independence, he drafted a constitution that made ‘friendship to all’ at the center of our foreign policy. Today the ideology of Bangabandhu must be spread more widely among all of us, especially among the younger generation.”

The meeting was also attended by the Former Vice-Chancellor of Begum Rokeya University Prof. Dr. Mr. Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah, Director of Bangladesh Power Management Institute (BPMI) Rafiqul Islam.

Other important members of civil society, various political leaders, freedom fighters, teachers, diplomats, and many other dignitaries took part in the event.
