East West Media Group Limited (EWMGL), a concern of Bashundhara Group, has been the highest taxpayer for the sixth time.

In print and electronic category, EWMGL has become the highest taxpayer for the financial year 2020-21.

The Bangladesh Pratidin, Kaler Kantho, daily sun, banglanews24.com, NEWS24 television, T-Sports TV and Radio Capital are media outlets of EWMGL.

National Board of Revenue (NBR) sent a list of tax card receivers to the Ministry of Finance analysing relevant files and documents of tax.

The Internal Resources Division under the Ministry of Finance on November 16 issued a gazette notification, publishing the names of highest taxpayers.

A total of 141 persons and organisations have come up in the list of highest taxpayers under three categories.

As per rules, the highest taxpayers will avail themselves of ticket on priority basis during highway, waterway and airway travels. They will be able to use VIP lounge at the airport, get seat at the hospitals during treatment and service at the hotel and restaurants on priority basis.

The highest taxpayers will be invited to all state functions and programmes.

By end of November, NBR is expected to distribute tax cards and certificates among the highest taxpayers.
