At least 846 people were killed and 1,057 were injured in 708 road accidents across the country in September, October 2021, said Bangladesh Jatri Kalyan Samity, a passengers’ welfare platform, on Thursday.

Road Safety Foundation came up with the statistics in a press statement after monitoring seven national dailies, five online news portals and electronic media.

A total of 348 people died in 307 motorcycle accidents, which accounted for 41.13 percent of the total deaths, the press release said.

Some 194 pedestrians were killed while 91 drivers and their assistants were killed during this period.

Meanwhile, at least 28 people were killed and 9 were injured in 17 waterways accidents, while 34 were killed and 6 injured in 32 train accidents.
