Two IU teachers suspended for bribe scam

Shawdesh Desk: The authorities of Islamic University in Kushtia on Friday suspended two of its teachers from the university temporarily as they allegedly demanded money from a candidate illegally to appoint him as teacher at finance and banking department, IU registrar office officials said.

The suspended teachers are Ruhul Amin, an assistant professor of finance and banking department and Abdur Rahim of electrical and electronic engineering department of the university.

The decision was taken at an emergency meeting of the university chaired by the university’s vice-chancellor Professor M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari.

IU acting registrar SM Abdul Latif told New Age that they suspended the teachers as an audio clip containing a discussion between the duo and a candidate published at Daily Jugantor and went viral on social media on Friday.

Taking the issue, the university vice-chancellor issued the suspension orders against the duo and postponed the board of finance and banking department which was scheduled to be held on Friday, he added.

IU vice-chancellor, however, said that they had already suspended the teachers and legal action would be taken soon.

A circular of recruiting teacher of finance and banking department was published on March 11, 2019.
