he global Covid-19 caseload is fast approaching 228 million, with the world still struggling to contain the second wave of the pandemic.

The total caseload and fatalities from the virus stand at 227,602,725 and 4,678,667 respectively, as of Saturday morning, according to Johns Hopkins University (JHU).

So far, 5,856,986,378 Covid vaccine doses have been administered across the globe.

The US has logged 41,992,919 cases and 672,615 deaths to date, according to the JHU data.

Brazil currently has the world’s second-highest pandemic cases and death toll with 21,080,219 cases, with 589,573 fatalities so far, according to the health ministry.

India’s Covid-19 caseload rose to 33,381,728 and 444,248 on Friday, as 34,403 new cases and 320 deaths were registered in 24 hours across the country, showed the federal health ministry’s latest data.

Bangladesh logged 38 more Covid-19 deaths and 1,907 fresh cases in 24 hours till Friday morning.
