Sculpture ‘Shikor Theke Shikore’ depicts history of Bangabandhu and Bangla

A sculpture named ‘Shikor Theke Shikhore’ (From Root to Peak) has been built in Pabna based on the history of Bangabandhu and Bangla.

There are three pillars on each side of this sculpture. The ups and downs and development of the politics and economy of Bangladesh after ‘75 have been written on the pillars. There is a boundary wall of 26 columns on one side of the main sculpture. Each column of this enclosure contains a brief illustrated history from Nawab Siraj ud-Daula to the great Liberation War and the heinous assassination of the family of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in ’75.

Former Health Minister Mohammed Nasim inaugurated this sculpture on February 2, 2018.

According to educationists and freedom fighters, the new generation can easily learn about the history through this.

Thousands of people in Bera region of Pabna were involved in the great Liberation War. Many were martyred. According to history, the battle of Dabbagan of Bera was the first frontal battle of 1971. In order to fulfill the demand of the locals, this sculpture ‘Shikor Theke Shikhore’ was erected near the main gate of Dhobakhola Coronation School and College at Natiabari close to Nagarbari Ghat. Hundreds of people come to visit this sculpture every day with respect and love.

Ex-MP from Pabna-2 (Bera-Sujanagar) Khandaker Azizul Haque Arzu took the initiative to build the Liberation War Memorial Sculpture in 2015 near Natiabari of Nagarbari Ghat in the upazila. Young artist Biplab Dutta built this multi-dimensional and varied sculpture after almost one and a half year of relentless work.

Khandaker Azizul Haque Arzu, who initiated the construction of the Liberation War Memorial Sculpture in 2016 with own funds, said “The young generation and people will be able to know the history from language movement to Great Liberation War through this sculpture. This is not only a sculpture but also a history.”

“I have built this sculpture in a bid to inform the entire nation about the history,” he added.

SM Fazlul Haque, former commander of Nagarbari Muktijoddha Sangsad, said when the young generation will know these histories, they will have a complete idea about Bangladesh.
