5 held for making TikTok video insulting national anthem

Police arrested five people for making a TikTok video on a social media insulting the national anthem from different places of Bogura district on Monday night.

The arrestees are identified as Md Mishkat Hossain, Md Nur-e-Islam Alif, Mehedi Hasan Antor, Alif Ahmmed Sujon and Md Arif Ali.

Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Public Relations and Media Branch at the police headquarters Md Sohail Rana confirmed this information to media on Tuesday afternoon.

 

He said the Media and Public Relations wing of the Bangladesh Police took notice of a TikTok video that mocked the national anthem with a disgraceful portrayal of it in front of the Shaheed Minar at the Malotinagar Primary School ground in Bogura Sadar upazila.

Later, the district police were asked to find the youths and bring them under the law.

After receiving the message, members of police led by Officer-in-charge (OC) of Bogura Sadar Police Station Selim Reza carried out drives and arrested them from different parts of the district, he added.

A process in underway to file a case under the Digital Security Act in this connection.
