Two farmers were killed and three others injured by lightning strike in Ratanpur area under Panchbibi upazila of Joypurhat on Monday morning.

The deceased were identified as Dulal Hossain, 55 and Mofazzal Hossain, 53, both of them hailing from the area.

Polash Chandra Deb, officer-in-charge (OC) of Panchbibi Plice Station, said thunderbolts hit the victims when they were working in the agricultural land next to their house at 10:00am, leaving the duo dead on the spot and three others injured.

The injured are being treated at Joypurhat Adhunik Hospital.
