Shahabuddin Ahmed, Bangladesh Ambassador to Japan has seen off the second consignment of Japan-manufactured AstraZeneca vaccine at the Narita airport on Friday (July 30).
This consignment, carried by All Nippon Airways (ANA), contains a large amount of 7,81,320 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine, making the vaccines total as of now to one million doses.
The freight of ANA carrying the vaccine departed from the Narita Airport Terminal-1 at 22:40 hrs. (JST) and is scheduled to reach Dhaka tomorrow (Saturday, July 31)), according to the Bangladesh Embassy in Tokyo.
This delivery is part of Japan’s announced commitment of supplying over 3 million doses of AstraZeneca vaccine in phases to Bangladesh under WHO-COVAX mechanism.
From the Embassy, Political Counsellor & Head of Chancery of Mission, Sheikh Farid and First Secretary, Ms. Tushita Chakma were present with the Ambassador.
