At least 143 dengue patients were hospitalised across the country in 24 hours till 8am Tuesday (today), which is the highest in a single day this year.
Of the new patients, 142 are from Dhaka, according to a media report.
The latest data of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) revealed that some 1,954 patients have been diagnosed with dengue this year. And only 51 of them are from outside the capital.
Among the total infected, some 1,573 people were infected with dengue during the current month till today, which shows the fast-rising trend of the mosquito-borne disease.
In June, 270 people were diagnosed with dengue infection in the country while it was 43 in May.
It is learnt that most of the hospitalised people with dengue infection have so far been released.
