Eighteen more people have died from coronavirus or Covid-19 infections and coronavirus-like symptoms while receiving treatment at the corona unit of Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital (RMCH).

Confirming the deaths, RMCH Director Brig Gen Shamim Yazdani said the deaths were registered in the last 24 hours starting from 8:00am on Tuesday to 8:00am Wednesday.

Of the 18 deaths, four were coronavirus positive while the remaining fourteen died of Covid-like symptoms.

“Meanwhile, 96 people have tested positive for corona at the hospital during the 24-hour period. Some 282 samples were tested in two laboratories of the district during the period,” the director said.

The positivity rate currently stands at 34.04%.

Besides, 45 people were admitted to the hospital with Covid symptoms in the past 24 hours. Currently, 437 patients are undergoing treatment at the hospital which has 454 beds.
