Two people were killed and fifteen others injured in a clash between two factions of ruling Awami League at a wedding party in Mehendiganj upazila of Barishal on Thursday morning.

The deceased were identified as Siddiqur Rahman, 30, and Abdus Sattar Dali, 57.

Mehendiganj Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abul Kalam said, Dhulkhola Union Awami League president Kalam Bepari and union Jubo League convener Jamal Rari attended a local wedding at Saldi village of Uttar Ulania union.

Over previous enmity, the supporters of the groups locked into a fierce clash with sticks and bamboo at 11:00am, leaving one dead on the spot and fifteen others injured.

Injured Sattar Dhali succumbed to his injuries on the way to Barishal.
