Drug trader killed in Cox’s Bazar ‘gunfight’

A suspected drug dealer was killed in a reported gunfight with the members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Ramu upazila of Cox’s Bazar on Wednesday night.

The deceased was identified as Delwar Hossain, 28, son of Kala Mia, a resident of Uttar Jaliapara area in Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar.

Confirming the news, Lieutenant Colonel Mahabub Rahman of RAB-7, said the drug dealers opened fire on them when they reached Ramu Robber garden to conduct a raid, forcing them to fire back that triggered the skirmish at around 8:00pm.

 

Later, police recovered the body of Delwar and sent it to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy, said M Ajmiruzzaman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Ramu Police Station.

The law enforcers also recovered 4 lakh pieces of Yaba pills, locally made pistol and 4 rounds of cartridges from the spot, he further added.
