Shawdesh Desk: The schoolgirl, who was killed after rape in Kalabagan area of the capital on Thursday, has been buried at her village home in Sadar upazila of Kushtia.

The ‘O’ level student of Mastermind School in Kalabagan area was laid to rest at a graveyard in Gopalpur following a namaz-e-janaza at the village’s Eidgah premises after Fajr prayers on Saturday, family sources said.

The family members along with the body started for Kushtia soon after the autopsy last night, and they reached around 1:30am.
The girl was allegedly killed by her boy friend Iftekhar Fardin Dihan and some of his friends following gang-rape at Kalabagan on Thursday afternoon.

Later, Dihan gave his confessional statement before a Dhaka court on Friday.

Metropolitan Magistrate Mamunur Rashid of Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court recorded the statement when police inspector AFM Asaduzzman, also investigating officer of the case, produced him before the court with a plea for recording his statement.

The court recorded the statement under section 164 of Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) and later, he was sent to jail.

Earlier, police also sought a 10-day remand for Dihan for interrogation in the case. But he was not placed on the remand as he gave confessional statement before the court.

Victim’s father on Thursday night filed the case with Kalabagan Police Station accusing Anushka’s lover Iftekhar Fardin Dihan of killing her daughter after gang-rape.
In the case statement, the plaintiff alleged that Dihan tricked his daughter into going to his flat and raped her when his family members were not home.

Due to rape, the victim bled profusely and became unconscious. Dihan then took her to hospital to deflect blame, the victim’s father alleged.

Kalabagan police arrested four people, including main accused Dihan, immediately after the incident.

Later, Dihan was shown arrested in the case filed by victim’s father.
