Shawdesh Desk: Health minister Zahid Maleque on Wednesday said that passengers coming from the United Kingdom will be put on seven-day mandatory quarantine after arrival.

Speaking at the lab inauguration event at Ashkona Hajj Camp in the capital, he said that the matter of suspending the flights to and from the UK was in discussion.

‘We’ve decided to put the passengers coming from the UK on mandatory seven-day quarantine,’ said the minister.

He, however, did not clarify if the passengers would be put on quarantine at the government facilities or at home.

Dozens of countries from India to Argentina have banned flights from Britain in fear of a new virus strain, which is reportedly 70 per cent more contagious.
