A private university student, who sustained injury in a road accident at Baufal upazila of Patuakhali on Friday night, succumbed to his injuries around 10:00pm on Saturday at Neurosciences Hospital in Dhaka.

The deceased was identified as Tanjil Ahmed (22), a first year student of European University in Dhaka, son of police officer Mozammel Hossain, a resdent of College para area of Baufal municipality.

Family sources said Tanjil with his two friends Sanim (23) and Md Qaiyum (22) were returning home from Karpurkathi area by a motorbike on Friday night.

Tanjil’s bike abruptly hit a speed-breaker in T&T area of Kalaiya-Baufal road, leaving all three friends injured, according to family sources.

Locals rescued them and admitted them to Baufal Upazila Health Complex from where all three were transferred to Barishal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital and Tanjil was referred to Dhaka’s Neurosciences Hospital as his condition deteriorated.
