Wahida Khanam, Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Ghoraghat in Dinajpur, and her father Omar Ali sustained injuries in an attack by some unidentified miscreants early Thursday.

Amirul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Ghoraghat Police Station, confirmed the matter to media.

The miscreants entered in the UNO’s official Bungalow in Ghoraghat when they were in sleep and hacked them with sharp weapons at 3:00am, leaving them injured, he said.

Later, the injured were rushed to Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Rangpur Medical College Hospital.

A process is underway to shift her to Dhaka for better treatment, he added.

Meanwhile, Dinajpur-6 MP Shibli Sadiq, Deputy Commissioner Mahmudul Alam and Superintendent of Police Anwar Hossain visited the spot, the OC said.
