The High Court has summoned investigation officers in a case to clarify return of a girl who was raped and killed.

A division bench comprising Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md Mostafizur Rahman passed the order on Thursday.

The HC asked former IO of the case and police sub-inspector Shamim Al Mamun to appear along with his written explanation on September 17.

Incumbent investigation officer, Inspector Abdul Hai will have to appear before the court with the case docket the same day.

Deputy attorney general Sarwar Hossain Bappy argued for the state during the hearing.

According to case dossier, a fifth grader and resident of Narayanganj went missing on July 4. Her father filed an abduction case with Narayanganj Sadar Police Station after two days.

Police arrested three persons – Abdullah, Rakib and Khalil – who later confessed to raping, killing and subsequently dumping her body in river Shitalakkhya.

Later, the accused appealed to retract confessional statements which were made on coercion.

To the surprise of all, the girl returned home on August 23 and disclosed that her missing was something to do with elopement with lover.
