A doctor of Jhikargachha Upazila Health Complex who tested positive for coronavirus, was airlifted to Dhaka on Friday evening after his condition deteriorated.

Doctor Nahid Siraj was posted as the Resident Medical Officer of Jhikargachha Upazila Health Complex, said a press release of Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Directorate.

A helicopter of Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) brought the doctor to Dhaka at 8:50pm.

Dr Anjum Sonia and Dr Uttam were attending Nahid Siraj who was admitted to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital later at night.

Earlier on April 23, another physician Dr Masud Ahmed, assistant professor of Urology department of Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH), was also airlifted to Dhaka.

Meanwhile, the health authorities confirmed the detection of 2,828 new patients in the last 24 hours, raising the total cases to 60,391 in country. Thirty more people died from coronavirus during this period, taking the death tally to 811.
