At least four people were injured in an attack allegedly by the personal assistant of local lawmaker at a fish enclosure in Kalapara’s Kauar Char in Patuakhali on Thursday night.

The injured are Bahadur, 50, Sohel, 35, Jewel, 30, and Helal, 30. The injured said that the lawmaker’s PA, Tariqul, along with 25-30 men attacked on them around 9:00pm to occupy the enclosure.

Mahbub Alam, officer-in-charge of Mohipur police station, confirmed the matter and said that a case had been filed against Tariqul and 19 others in this connection.

Mohibur Rahman MP was not available over phone for his comment.

However, Tariqul claimed that the allegations were false and fabricated. He also said that he was not present in the area at that time.

Three of the injured were first taken to Kalapara hospital and, later, sent referred to Dhaka for better treatment.
