Shawdesh Desk: A Kushtia court on Sunday sentenced four people to death and seven others to life term imprisonment in a case filed for killing two brothers in Bheramara upazila in Khustia.

The court also fined the life term awardees over the killing following a confrontation with the convicts for harassing of the victim’s sister.

The convicts are – Kamal Hossain Malitha, son of Nurul Islam of Gopalnagar in Bheramara upazila; Kamrul Paramanik, son of Kabul Hossain Malitha; Sumon Pramanik; and Nayan Sheikh, son of Nazrul Islam of Fakrabad village of the same upazila.
Those sentenced to life imprisonment are – Nazrul Sheikh, Abdur Rahim, Mahfuzur Rahman, Hridoy Ali, Ziaul Islam, Samrat Ali and Arshaf Malitha of Fakrabad village.

Of the convicts, Nayan, Mahfuzur and Samrat are absconding.

Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Judge Munshi Md Mashiar Rahman handed down the verdict at 10:00 am on Sunday.

According to the prosecution, Muzibur Rahman and his uncle Mizanur Rahman were hacked to death by a group of people after they protested against the eve-teasing of a seventh-grader girl on April 25, 2016.

Muzibur’s son filed a case with Bheramara Police Station over the killing.
