RAB personnel on Saturday arrested the driver of the bus that a day earlier killed six people in a crash at the Dhaleshwari toll plaza of Dhaka-Mawa expressway.
RAB media wing chief Lieutenant Colonel Munim Ferdous said that the driver Md Nuruddin was arrested from Nayaranganj’s Siddhirganj area, where he went into hiding following the deadly accident.
Legal processes will be taken against Nuruddin, the RAB officer told reporters.
The driving assistant is yet to be nabbed.
On Friday morning, a speeding bus hit three vehicles – a sedan, a microbus, and a motorbike – leaving four of a family and two others dead and nine injured.
The four of a family belonged to the sedan, while the other two deceased rode on the motorbike.
The nearly 55-kilometre road is the country’s first expressway, and with a Tk11,000 crore price tag also the costliest road project to date.
Despite its huge costs, it has little-to-no warning signs ahead of risky turns and routes for unsuspecting drivers. The risks are particularly high during the foggy winter days.
