Health Minister Zahid Maleque on Monday said that the government is planning to start administering booster doses to the frontliners and people over 60 first from this month.
The minister made the announcement while talking to reporters after attending cabinet meeting.
Mentioning that the preparations are underway to start administering booster doses, the minister said that he has instructed authorities concerned to set up 1,000 more vaccination booths across the country.
Meanwhile, the National Technical Advisory Committee (NTAC) on Covid-19 has recommended Covid-19 vaccine booster dose for frontline workers and those aged 60 and above, who have received the second jab at least six months ago.
The committee during the meeting held on December 11 also expressed concerns over the new Omicron variant.
It also recommended limiting any gathering and meeting around the country to control the new variant of the virus.
