Ghulshan Ara Begum, wife of Dhaka-7 lawmaker Haji Salim, died at a hospital in the capital on Sunday night. She was 50.

Ghulshan Ara, chairman of Medina Group, breathed her last at Dhanmondi’s Labaid Hospital at around 11:45 pm while undergoing treatment.

Haji Selim’s personal secretary Mohiuddin Billal confirmed the matter to media.

Haji Selim is also undergoing treatment in the hospital, he said.

Gulshan Ara was the Ward Commissioner (now Councilor) of undivided Dhaka City Corporation.

She had been suffering from various complications, including kidney and diabetic since 2016. Ghulshan Ara was treated at Bamrungrad Hospital in Bangkok for a long time and had been undergoing treatment at LabAid since last August.
