Bashundhara Group, country’s leading business conglomerate, stood by families of three corona-victim journalists providing Tk 1.5 million cash aid.
Bashundhara Group Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir handed over the cheque worth of Tk 5 lakh to each family on Sunday.
Three journalists who died of coronavirus are: Somoyer Alo city editor Humayun Kabir Khokon, senior sub-editor Mahmudul Hakim Apu and Bhorer Kagoj crime reporter Aslam Rahman.
Humayun Kabir Khokon’s wife Sharmin Sultana Rina, Mahmudul Hakim Apu’s wife Arifa Sultana and Aslam Rahman’s wife Fatema Rahman received the support at Bashundhara Industrial Headquarters-1 in the capital.
Expressing gratitude to Bashundhara Group, Sharmin Sultana Rina said the family is really grateful to the company for extending their support in this situation.
Among others, Bangladesh Pratidin Editor Naem Nizam and Kaler Katho Editor Imdadul Haq Milan were present on the occasion.
Briefing to journaliss, News24 Chief Executive Naem Nizam said Bashundhara Group again proves that the company stands beside the people of the country.
“Bashundhara Group Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir extended support to the family members of Covid-19 victim journalist on humanitarian ground,” he added.
Editor Imdadul Hoq Milan, also noted writer, mentioned that Bashundhara Group has shown excellence by standing beside people.
Earlier, Bashundhara Group donated Tk 100 million to the Prime Minister’s relief fund and came forward to establish a makeshift hospital for corona patients at the ICCB, a trade centre of the conglomerate.
