Freedom Fighter Sardar Jasim Uddin, chairman of Manda upazila parishad in Naogaon district, died of coronavirus symptoms at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) on Monday morning.

He was 70.

RMCH Deputy Director Dr Saiful Ferdous said Sarder Jasim, also the upazila unit Awami League general secretary, was admitted to the hospital with a persistent cough and fever on Sunday morning.

His samples were collected and sent to the laboratory for testing on Sunday afternoon. It will be ascertained whether he was infected with COVID-19 or not after getting the testing report, Dr Ferdous added.
