Police in a drive arrested 50 Jamaat-Shibir activists including former Jamaat Amir of the district and the President of district unit Islami Chhatra Shibir, the student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami, from a secret meeting in Singra upazila of Natore on Tuesday night.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Singra Police Station Nur-e-Alam Siddique said, on information, Singra police conducted the drive this noon in Chak Gopal area and nabbed them including former Amir Belal uz Zaman and Chhatra Shibir President Md Hamidur Rahman.

The police team arrested them while they holding a secret meeting in the area to carry out subversive activities in the upcoming Mujib Barsho function, he added.

A case is being processed to file and the detainees were placed to Singra Police Station, the OC added.
