Rini Raziun Tisa, an employee of a private bank of the country, has brought in onions from abroad for her parents when she visited China for a relaxing vacation recently.
Tisa went to China on November 14 and bought 11 kilogrammes of onions to present her parents as they asked to bring onion from there at a cheap rate.
During her visit to China, the bank employee, on mobile phone, asked her parents what she could bring for them as gift.
“Father asked me to buy few kilogrammes of onions if you want to buy anything for us,” Tisa said.
“Onion is being sold at Taka 250 to 300 per kg in Dhaka. Therefore, you can buy the cooking ingredient for us,” Tisa said quoting her father.
She told the media that she bought 11 kilogrammes of onions at Tk 38 per kg from a shop in China.
Tisa also said, “My parent got delighted to have the onions as gift from abroad. Onions were distributed to some of my relatives too and they were also happy.”
“I also became happy to see their delight after they got the onions as gift. But I feel sorry thinking the condition of people as they are forced to buy onion at a skyrocketed price,” she added.
